Vale of Pewsey 2
Wilton Town 1st team 0

Town threw away the chance of their first points at this level with a disappointing first half display. With Town being unable to keep the ball or defend against the long ball it was no surprise when Pewsey took a twentieth minute lead with a stunning finish that deflected off Dan Targett and flew into the roof of the net.

Town could only create one chance in the first half and the Pewsey keeper saved well from Simon Nelmes.

The second half saw Town play a little better but with the back four being unable to cope with the excellent, big, strong, quick Pewsey striker the home side always looked dangerous.

After Pewsey missed two glorious chances to extend their lead Town started to come more intio the game and create some chances of their own. The Pewsey keeper saved well from Dean Bevis and Gary Hooker and further chances for Nev Ansell, Simon Nelmes and Gary Hooker all failed to find the equaliser that started to look inevitable.

With time running out and Town throwing men forward to look for a goal Pewsey broke forward and made the game safe as the execellent striker rounded Chris Smith and fired home.

This was not a great performance from Town who only really started to play in the last twenty minutes. Manager Graham Fisher was disappointed with how the game was played,

"We didn't keep possession well enough and we couldn't deal with the long ball. Add to that the fact that we missed three or four really good chances and you can see that we have a lot to learn at this level. We need to learn it quickly and I have faith in this group of players. I need them to have a bit more faith in themselves."
